ok, ive been running 7.0b in OS X now with no hassle, but i had to go back to OS 9 for some old plugins to work and came across a really annoying bug, probably due to driver issues, basically when i lasso the actual visual blue line drawn is off to the left of where i am drawing it and subsiquently the selection of polygons/points appear off to the left as well, and only re-align themselves when i do a manual refreshof the screen by moving/scrolling the window, then the selection jumps into its correct place.
i have removed the nvidia drivers from the system folder and am running 2 radeons on a dual monitor set up. i have my modeler and layout windows in the main monitor and all my pallettes in the second.
the agp card controls the main monitor and the pci the secondary one.
system 9.2.1 on a dual 500 G4.
i did read somewhere that there was a driver update to the ati drivers but i have checked the site and all i can find is the old drivers from january.
any help would be appreciated.
cheers

I'm having some similar sounding problems as well. 7.0b ran fine with 10.0.4. After doing a clean install of 10.1 and 7.0b, I have noticed some OpenGL glitches in Modeler. Mainly, when I select points the usually don't highlight even though I have selected them. If I pan or zoom the viewport, they show as selected. It's a little annoying when doing detail work.
Also, the cursor seems to be leaving a little square hole in the viewport when panning or roatating one of the windows. I can rotate a model in the perspective viewport, and when I release the mouse button, there is a little hole underneath where my cursor was.
My system is a dual 500 with a Radeon AGP.

i've had little black artifacts and glitches in OS X but nothing too bad, and occasionally get some selection issues but more when things get heavy, in X i am assuming this is simply not enough graphics power and maybe a better workstation class card would improve things.

I've had the same problem with the points hiliting on my G4 450 Single AGP with a stock Ati OS9.2.1. It is annoying.

9.2.1 has some serious opengl issues. =(
despite the absence of a few key bits of software that i need for x, this problem pushed me into x.
i suggest staying in x when possible or trying to get back to 9.1's opengl somehow. you may even try pulling out the 3d acceleration extensions (not all of the files, or opengl) to force it into software opengl.

I have the solution to your problems because I have had them and I got the selection issue to go away and got good performance. You can't start up classic in osX or it will replace the working extentions with ones that show the issues you discribe. First thing turn off opengl ati extention.it will not play nice with the rave extention that you will need. Next get the 1.7 version of the rave extention and leave it on. the one before and the one after witch os X installs {1.7.1) displays this problem with the radion that is discribed. rave 1.7 originaly came with the downloadable version of os 9.2.1. If You can get that version just extract the drivers from it. I am using 6.5b on os 9.2.1 and am very pleased with performance for now. BE Warned if you get it working do not start up classic in osx or it will switch the rave drivers on you.
hope this helps

I think these are the older Rage Pro cards however and these problems don't affect the RagePro 128 or Radeon. I am experiencing all kinds of problems in 7b Modeler under 10.1. Modeler is really unusable it is so bad. Modeler ran great under 10.0.4, Layout still runs fine.
