Hi All,
I'm going mad here trying to rename a layer of an object. It has a dozen, so it would be a lot clearer if they were named.
I've tried the manual, but the only places I can get the rename command to appear, (eg schematic view and right click), it's always greyed out.
Can someone please tell this idiot where the $£!* I find the cooamnd?!
Cheers,
Nick

Are you trying to do this in Layout or Modeler?

Name them in Modeler using the layers pallete

The layers pallette is in the modeler/windows/layer browser menu.

you cant rename objects in layout, only in modeler.
in mdeler, open layer browser and double click on layer you want to rename....

Thanks Guys, found it.
It does seem strange that it's there, but greyed out in Layout... Perhaps it will materialise in the next release?

Think that's because you can change the name of Null objects, Lights and Cameras.

So can't change name of object in layout?
Need to clone objects in layout but these objects need to have names already assigned in my 3d engine.
Ideas?
please email me re: this.

No. And I'm not to sure you can use cloned objects in your game engine either.
And on a side not about clones...They will share the same textures (which sucks) so you can't have them look different. What I do is once everything is done in modeler, I just make multiple copies of it, and give them and rename them in Windows explorer, than import them all to layout. Now you the same object and are able to texture them differently.

Hello Paul
Easy: save object under a different file- name, clone it, replace the original object with the original file.
Why should it be impossible to use clones in a 3d- engine?
