Question regarding saving Hypervoxels

Hi,

this may seem like a dumb question and surely the answer will make me feel suitably foolish...but here goes.

I've rendered a scene elsewhere and imported it as a backdrop image in a lightwave scene. Over this backdrop, I've created volume lights (which save fine) and some null based hypervoxel clouds. After spending a good deal of time getting the null-hypervoxel clouds just right, I save the scene. I also save the objects in the scene. I also save the hypervoxel settings for the null.

After reopening the scene, I find that the null has been saved in the scene but it's hypervoxel attributes have not. Hypervoxels do not appear to be saved with the scene or the objects they are associated with.

Additionally, when reloading the initially saved hypervoxel settings (saved from within the hypervoxels panel) and reapplying them to the null, the cloud doesn't look similar to the original by a long shot.

Anybody got an answer as to how to save a cloud/null/hypervoxel or some sane way of creating a stable effect that lasts from session to session?

Did that make sense?

Thanks in advance.

Are using 6.0,6.5 or 6.5b? If you are using 6.0 or 6.5, I had this happen to me a few times. 6.5b seems to save HV 3.0 stuff fine - at least so far on my machine.

Hi James,

thanks for responding and yes it's 6.5b. It seems that you have to save the hypervoxel settings separately and then reload them when you reopen the scene. Even then, you have to resize the hypervoxel to where you had it before.

In other words, the scene reopens with the null object having a HVcustomdraw element associated with it...but that element is not applied or sized in relation to the null! You almost have to start again.

If you spend 5 hrs setting up storm clouds in Layout (the scene demands just the right ambience!) and then save it for your next session you'll have to reset the whole thing over again? That's kinda lame.

James, did you ever figure out what was causing it? Corrupted config files or something?
