Holy Crap!
I bought Lightwave about 5 months ago. What do I get?

Maybe I should sell it for 700 or 800 bucks and buy it again to receive this stuff.
I am trying to save for Larrys class and have paid 200 bucks for the Seattle seminar next week.

Apparently existing users don't deserve a holiday bonus!

i know, the newtek boards may not be the best place to advertise.

impressive though, i will admit.

Yeah, not only did I pay $1000 more then new users, I also didn't get this nice bundle. That's a good idea Slayer, maybe I should see if I can get a grand for my LW and buy it back again.:)

Great deal for those who haven't got a copy yet.

@SLAYER and Steve, there are lots of DVD resources out there if you're looking for training. Check out:

You're probably in need for more advanced stuff that the deal has to offer anyways.

Well, I was joking. I was just referring to the deal I got when I bought LW. When I bought it new it was $2500 and all you got was Newtek's not so wonderful manuals that came with 6 and one introductory Desktop videotape by Dan Ablan (which was very helpful). Not that I'm complaining, I hope a lot of people pick up on this deal.

I hope the $900 Intro To Lightwave Courseware by Larry becomes a permanent fixture for Lightwave. (i.e., please make it part of the upgrade package for LW 8.0 when its released). Since these videos are comprehensive, the current manual can be ditched in favor of more compact documentation dealing exclusively with the new features of 8.0 :)

Hi, Cori!

The training materials in the current special are free to the end user who is purchasing a new copy of LightWave at the $1595 MSRP, but they are not free to NewTek, so we would not be able to include them with a $395 upgrade.

That's ok Chuck, I'll go ahead and buy my upgrade to LW8 right now if that's ok with you. When can you ship that?

hi
i second the idea to ditch the manual!
it's sooooo frustrating that soooo many parts of lightwave are a mystery to me still...mainly due to the manual being a sad waste of a tree.

take a look in the "general area" and my morph woes...either that manual needs a re write or the whole idea of lightwave needs somone to make it logical with a typical workflow that users can work out for them selves what to do and how to fix stuff.

i'd expect that those leaning materials would have come in handy to me but i bought lightwave in march this year so i miss out on it and on using lightwave more i'd expect..weird that lightwave's biggest weakness is that area of understanding just how it actually works..sometimes i feel i've just been beamed to the helm of the enterprise and asked to set a course to pluto...!

as if i'd know how!

please either scrap the manual or write a proper one.

just to tag line under this...lightwave is the only app i've ever had with no help system built in to it...unbelivable really!

scrap the manual and put a help system in with explanations on every button in the interface..if you can be bothered to make that button you shoud invest some time in expliaining what it doies don't you think?...

i wouldn't mind so much but some of theose buttons do not work as they are written...you have to have an explanation as the dialog box that pops up doesn't always explain what your actually about to try to do...

god...if i knew lightwave inside out i'd write it myself!

....calming down now...going for a cup of tea!

I'd like to know who did the scene for the holiday special ad on the home page, and to see a bigger version of it. A wireframe view would be nice too.

Steve, the group that was responsible for producing those manuals have been replaced by William who is doing a great job of getting tutorials up and working on those very issues. :)

That's what makes me want to buy it but right now, i can't afford it, cos i have a sh*t debt.
I'm still using Lightwave 7.5 for my showreel in my old college. I hope i get a job this year.

Anyway, mmM, don't worry about me. I promise when i got a job. I'll definalely buy the full version of Lightwave 7.5. which i love.

cheers chuck!...
i've just got a hold of the model and rig cdrom from lost pencil..it's a great tutorial..learned quite a bit about lightwave from that and the 3dbuzz tutorial on 3d world a while back...

all i can say is that lightwave 8 would be ideal if you leav it as it is but add a searchable help system wuth project based tutorials as well.... oh yeh and you put into it acs4 as well!...hint hint!!
