Did 10.2.3 break Modeler?

While I can get it to work Modeler seems buggy and super-slow, post 10.2.3 update.

takes forever for it to draw tool buttons and viewpanes when launched, and I can't even get it to switch from Front view to Perspective, etc.

anyone else experience similar performance degradation?

Johnny

I just got back to my machine after the update, but so far I haven't noticed any problems.

My modeler is the slowest p.o.s. in the world lately. I can't even use the move tool when I have an object with a large number of polygons in it. I am dying here. What's up? Does LW need to be updated for OS 10.2? I know there were a lot of changes to Jag that maybe newtek hasn't accounted for.

You guys who are having trouble, what is your setup? Machine, processor, graphics card, RAM, ex-wives performing voodoo rites on you, y'know, the usual stuff...

also, mention what version of LW you are using. I've got 6.5b (yeah, alreayd slow as it is). I really want to know if it's gona affect me.
I'm running on a Dual 1Ghz Quicksilver w/ 1 Gig o' ram and NVidia G-force 4mx. I've read that people have had problems with the G-Force 3 and 4Ti, but havn't heard anything about the 4mx yet, but I'm not riskin' it at the moment.

I am using a Dual 450, OSX 10.2.3, 1.5 GB RAM, about 60 Gig total HD space, Rage card...latest LW version.

It think that some of my modeler problems *could* have been hub-related, based on other posts I've read, but not sure.

Hm. Well, I have run LW 6.5 on a 400MHz G4 with a 32MB Radeon graphics card and never had any trouble with the speed of Modeler. The only Modeler-related problems I had with that setup, or on this 800MHz dp G4 is when dragging lots of points around under OS 9. I guess the RAM would fragment because invariably, whenever I did some repetative, tiny action like that, after a while Modeler would freeze up. OS X solved that. That's why I assume it was fragmenting RAM, because with the memory protection of OS X the problem went away.

Oh yeah, I just remembered something, if Jonathaan is running OS 9.x Delete or disable the "Quickdraw 3D Rave" extension. I was having some problem that I can't recall when running LW 6 so I called NewTek. They told me to lose that extension, I did and it fixed the problem.

Other than that, I guess the thing to look for is anyone that is running LW successfully on your graphics card, if not, maybe there's some kind of conflict.

In the end I would call NewTek before giving up.

Ah, yes, that's what I forgot to mention... I'm running in 10.2.2 at the moment. I do have a Radeon PCI in my box, but it's not being used right now.
I'm working on my senior project right now, so I can't risk breking my Lightwave. I must be totally sure that 10.2.3 won't disable me.
Again, I'm currently on v. 6.5b. (I can't afford an upgrade).
thanks ya'll

I have this same problem- super slow moving objects in modeller.

Using: G4, 733 Digital Audio (dark grey not silver), 1.5GB ram, 60 gb + 80 gb HD (60 GB is the system/apps disk), nVidia gForce 3 (64mb) at 1152x870 millions, OS X 10.2.3, LW 7.5, second video card- ATI Exclaim VR128 (16mb) at 1000's colors, 1024x768, no ex-wives nor girlfriends either

FYI, when I have CPU meter up, when I go to move anything, even a simple 6-poly box, CPU usage goes up to 100%. I am just using 4-view with 1 perspective, usually on flat shade or smooth shade, not often texture shade. Also Layout seems to have acceptable performance. About OpenGL says it is in use.
