but two months to do lipsynch?
Do you feel that's not enuff time...or too much...
remember that you only have to use a portion of the sound file....but you are more the welcome to animate the whole thing....

That's plenty of time.
What if you use Magpie, export to LW and tweak?

As long as you send in the source files it doesn't matter...

That sounds a bit borderline to me. This is a bit extream but here is an example: Animate a character in max and loaded the motion capture to the model for a lw charater animation contest. The differnce is magpie is a lw plugin. Just wanted to throughing that out there.

too much time, i think. but i guess people have other stuff to do, so i suppose they need time.

I've had a lot of requests to make the contests last longer....so I thought this would be a good test to see if 2 months gives everyone enuff time...

Yeah but who would use max anyways?

i feel lightwave is as good if not a whole bunch better than max for lipsync...as long as you don't use facestation or ventriliquist for max as a speed up for the lipsync.

I think 2 months is a good timeframe for this, even more so if people plan on creating some models as well
Besides, after listening to the audio, you're going to actually have to do some *animation* of the character as well to pull off something great - I can't see too much challenge in just making some lips move on a character with audio track! That could be quite, eh, boring to watch!
Anyone wanting some cool reference ideas how to approach this contest should look at the 10second club and see what people have been doing with audio tracks and animation...

Odd prize though - Most home/hobbyist/students may not have a need for it, however its good news for small studios who can benefit from it!

Can we use non-shipped plugins??

Seems to me the judges need the 2 months more than the entrants.... 8c)
Speaking of which, when can we see the october contest animations? I want to see the winning animation... I'm dying to know how the logo we're not supposed to change either comes from or goes to the still image posted for it. Along with a dozen other questions.
