I just received my first set of three c.d's for Larrys Character Animation class and it ROCKS!

I got them on Monday, but did not start using them until last night since I was in awe just watching them for a few hours the first night.

I skipped to some sections for things that I've really wanted to see, such as the texturing, UV's, creating the images for mapping etc..

There is so much on these c.d's it's incredible! Hours and hours of Step by step by step tutorials. This whole thing is very easy to watch and follow with good narrating. And these are just my first set of c.d's! Three jam-packed c.d's of just the modelling and texturing! More will follow soon!

I have some DVD's from Desktop Images that are pretty sweet, but there is nothing like a complete project based tutorial from blank screen to animation.

The cool thing is that he shows various ways to do certain things. You can even see when things do not go quite as planned and how to fix it or get around it without hitting undo umpteen times.

I cannot say enough about this class. I know $900.00 may seem steep and believe me, I restrained myself for quite awhile from purchasing them, but now my only regret about them is that I waited so long to get them!

Well enough talk, I got a class to take!

Thanks Larry

I couldn't have said it better myself! :)

I have a great appreciation for Larry's work, since the course material has got my lazy butt off my seat and into gear doing all the stuff I really wanted to do with LightWave all these years, but avoided with a 'Looks hard, can't be bothered' attitude! :)

It wasn't just the LightWave tools and techniques, but more importantly for me the knowledge of where to start and how to work through the project that I found most useful - I already used LightWave for some time, but I was lost as to even where to start with Character work.

Now I love doing 3D character work! Heck, its all I do for a job now! I would never have even thought that over a year ago!

Thanks again Larry! :)

I recently got a disk from Larry, one of the Lightwave World Wide Training Tour CDs… I started work on a character and I watched just the rigging videos. It was about 10 maybe 15 minutes. It saved my LIFE…The character I had saved, when it was reloaded, went kerfloowie… arms, feet everywhere…

Because of Larry’s advice about working with bones, I was able to bring it back. Now it works fine…

Thanks to you, SplineGod! ;-)

Will

Larry rules! I just got done with the texturing CDs and they took a lot of the mystery out of UV maps, Larry's CD's are layed out in logical order and he actually explains why he does things a certain way. I can't wait for the rigging and animation CD!
Thanks Larry!
P.S. $900 is a deal considering what you get and it's still cheaper and more convenient than a lot of other options!

Kevin, Thank you.
Ive noticed that youve been posting a TON of character stuff. It wasnt too long ago when you were posting texture examples with your robot. The character work youve been doing recently has been great! :)
Will,
I know what youre talking about. Ive had rigs appear to explode and I KNOW that others have had it happen. I just wanted to show in that part that there is no need to panic if something funky like that happens because its EASY to fix. - Thanks!
Vincent,
Thanks for the comments. Those Texturing CDs are the longest part because texturing seems to take the longest. Its also nice to see a good logical way when texturing.
I appreciate the positive comments everyone. :)

Yeah, Larry's very good. I had a chance to see him work and everyone was in awe at how easy he made it look.

Hey Larry, I want to buy a course too, but I am more concerned about architectural and FX's,(in fact FX's on architectural stuff, like house that goes on fire, house hit by a bus, etc...) can you advise me to something..? if you have something like this, I buy it right away...

Hey Lamont, Thanks! I was pretty impressed with that group. Most everyone seemed to get it pretty well. :)

Herve,
I have some stuff in the works along those lines but not ready yet. I do have some F/X stuff but not along the lines of burning or blowing up buildings. :)

Dude, even up to now when I run into a student who's modeing something, I'll get "Lamont, show me how Larry Shultz did it..".

You definately made an impact ^_^!!
