well the title pretty much sums it up.

i've just got LW3d and am still learning the basics. i'm making a dice from a tutorial i found on the net, and in the screen grabs, the Top right viewport (is that right) is looking down on the dice. i can zoom in and out, go left/right/up down but cant look up or down.
also is there any way of free rotating the camera without moving the the camera.

ps if anyone knows of any comprehensive beginners tutorials i'd greatly appreciate it

thanks in advance

nick

Alt + LeftMouseButton (LMB) rotates the view

Shift+Alt+LMB pans left, right, up, and down

Ctrl+Alt+LMB sooms in and out

It sounds like you haven't got the default Perspective view any longer in the top right. You can easily change this by simply changing the menu at the top left of the window. It should say Perspective, but it probably says Top in your case. When you have changed it to Perspective you can move around the object as you like, not simply limited to Zoom or side to side movements. Also, although it's easier to use the keyboard shortcuts once you are used to them, it may be easier for you to use the gadgets on the top right of each viewport. Click and hold on any of them and then move the mouse around. You'll see what it does...
