I have poked around this board and found some excellent suggestions on how to animate tentacles. In theory, I understand them. In practice, my results are... unpredictable at best. There seem to be a slew of problems with channel following type calculations.
I downloaded the whipping file from http://www.lwhub.com/theory.html
to see if it was my execution, or LW. The bones seem to work, but the object is not conforming to the bones. I was wondering if this might be a mac problem, or something wrong with my setup (and yes the subdiv order is set to last). I would be grateful if someone would download the file, and run it on another mac (running OSX 10.2.3)... and let me know if it was working for them...
thanks.

Hi,
I tried it and:
It is set wrong!
Change the Subdivision order from "Last" to "After Morphing" That's all

thanks very much... although now I don't understand why it works after morphing, and not when set on last... but that is a question for another topic.

Hi,
In the example there is a morph being used on the object to change it's length.
Look in the LW 7.0 main manual page 9.13, Last paragraph:
"If you are morphing a subpatch object, you will want meshing to occur after the morphing occurs (Using After Morphing, Last, etc. ..."
As I understand, After Morphing should be equal to last in the case of a morph!
I do not know why it is not the case, but it works with After Morphing.
Maybe someone can jump in and clarify the "Last" vs "After Morphing" in regard to Morphing unless there is a mistake in the Manual or in LW 7.5 Mac OS X 10.2.3 implementation.
