I'm having a really strange problem. I've created an object in modeler and have been using it in Layout for various animation tests via Motion Mixer. Well, after fiddling and getting things to work like I want, I decided to go back to my model and add a few new things.
Here's the rub, however: I've got 19 layers in my object, and I added 3 new layers and placed meshes within those layers. But, suddenly, in layout my pre-existing scenes ignore these new layers. If I replace the object, no change. At first I thought it was a problem with Motion Mixer, so I loaded a prior save before I had applied MM -- but it still does the same thing!
This is really driving me nuts, I've tried all the obvious things like restart LW, restart the Hub, reboot, etc.
However, I can go create a new scene and load my object -- and all the layers appear. Anybody have a clue what's happening? I really, REALLY do not want to remove the existing object from my scene and re-add it, and lose all of the animation I've already done.
Help is appreciated. I'm tearing my hair out here...

This has always annoyed me too that it ignores extra layers like that .... you can do a load object layer, browse for the object, then you'll get a pop up window asking for the layer number, so you can load 20, 21, 22.

I didn't notice the "load layer" option, Simon. Thanks, I'll give that a shot.
Update: It works! Sadly, though, it loads the layer at 0,0,0 and I have to reposition it manually to where it's supposed to be. GRRR!

I usually parent all my layers to layer 1 or to a null and use that for general positioning, so just parent the new layer after loading and it should pop into place with the others. What's a bit crap is that if you select layer 1 and use the 'replace object' function it will replace all the subsequent layers with your new object but still ignores any extra ones
Oh well I guess I'm just a bit impatient in getting my model into layour when it's only half finished!

Simon, you're right about the parenting deal -- all I had to do was "load layer from object" and then parent it properly and it snapped back into place.
I love Lightwave, but it's these silly little gotchas that can sometimes make it really frustrating to use.
