I have a (simple) scene in Layout (a table, four glasses and a glass (tea-)pot). A single spotlight illuminates the scene.
As long as I render with CAUSTICS OFF, I get the resulting picture in under 2 seconds. If I turn CAUSTICS ON, the rendering will abort while "Tracing caustics from light (56%)".
Any idea what could be causing this ?

When you say abort do you mean crash or just stop?
If it stops watch the render status and see if it says anything like 'Not enough memory' it will only appear for a short time if an error occurs so unless you're watching you could miss it and wonder what's going on!

Just a quick Question:
Have you got your 'Alert Level' in LightWave set to 'Expert'? (its under general options (press O))
If you do, switch it down to 'Beginner' - I leave mine at Beginner level now, since it forces you to acknowledge error dialogs (so you never miss them - Its easy to miss out something important in Expert mode!)

Hi guys,
thanks for your suggestions ...
As it turns out, I was using the SimbiontLWShader (DarkTree) for one of the surfaces and that is what caused to problem. Once I removed the LW Shader everything worked like a charm !
