I recently tried using Digital Confusion in LW7.0 Mac, as an alternative to the depth of field function in camera settings. Since you don't have to render at a minimum of medium antialiasing with DC, I thought I could set antialiasing to low for test renders.
I soon stopped using it, however, when I noticed nasty black haloes around out-of-focus foreground objects where they partially cover background objects. My first thought was that maybe I had forgotten to check 'render hidden geometry' but another F9 proved that the results were just as unsightly. Is this atifact a known issue?
So, I'm back to using the depth of field function in camera settings. However, I'm not *entirely* happy with this; are there any other depth of field plug-ins for Mac? I can upload examples if anyone wants to go into this.
cheers, DoF

Try using a skydome or something to obscure the background...then Digital Confusion should render correctly.
Try XDof from Evasion if you're not happy..the results are fantastic!

Same problem here.
Digital Confusion sucks!
Buy X-dof.

Actually DC offers decent results...you just have to have something behind the objects being blurred...I think it's just a post effect, so it needs something to blur against.

DC still sucks.
Have you ever tried to render an animation with this plugin?
Try waiting hours to see that your setting is wrong, then try to deal with the big black marks that some gremlin has randomly scribbled on your frames!
I think it works better on PC tho.

I'm with Michael and Wizlon - X-Dof is a really good investment. Especcially the latest v2.0.

on a mac this plug is screwed - this has been confirmed by NewTek Europe.
