Hi guys!
This is my first post here. Had to be a stupid problem like this right?!!
Anyway, Lightwave has been working fine on my machine for ages (LW 7.5, PB G3, OSX 2.3, 512mb). Recently it decided to crash whenever I render. It seems it will render once but if I change anything at all it will crash until I reboot.
It's quite a complex architectural scene (object is around 20-30mb, just geometry, no textures) but it has worked fine before. Has anyone had this problem?
P.S. It renders fine on a similar spec PC!
I've only had this problem recently and it's making me go mad!! Sorry the first post had to be like this. Got a bunch of deadlines now but will be posting some images and tips soon.
Cheers all,
Joao

Trash the preference file.
Have you modified anything else on your machine, recently?
Also, you don't have a mass of RAM. I'd double the RAM you have (at the minumum).

Thanks,
Tried the prefs file before. It used to work for things like this but not anymore. I'm not using any extra plugins either anymore - LW is becoming too unstable (only layout so far).
I'm wondering if anyone has had any problems with 10.2.3?? That's the only thing I can think of.
How much ram do you recomend - I normally only deal with high polygon counts and single frame renders.
There's a light at the end of the tunnel though - new PowerMac arriving. My first G4 :-)
P.S.
Are we supposed to trash the LWextensions prefs (or whatever its called) as well?.... Everyone only mentions LWmodeler and layout.
cheers,
joao.

Joao,
I don't have a solution but I thought you might like to know I'm having an identical problem in Layout, also with an architecural model of about 22Mb. The first time I hit the render button each time I work on this scene, it's guaranteed to crash. However, when I re-open the same scene and render again, it works. Very frustrating because it takes a long time to load this scene up.
G4, dual-processor, 1.25G RAM, 10.2.3.
Andrew.
