In either Layout or Modeler, I can't seem to figure out how to delete surfaces. I can make them all day. But once they're made, they're here for good. Or are they?
Anyone?

Surfaces have to be connected to objects,
so delete the object, or rename the surface.
If you are talking about the Surface Editors,
annoying way it keeps surface names of objects.
that have been deleted... Then NO!!! (not to my knowlede) for some stupid reason.....
Back in 5.0 > 5.6 you had a "flush command"
And some bright spark, (i'll call him Gregory)
decided to remove it.... Not important anymore..
no one will miss it... i'll just take it away.
Ironically! 5.6 very rarely actually needed it.
as it would automatically flush...
But 7.5 never releases them....
Remembering the surfaces could be handy, but we also need the flush button back.
It reminds me of another sutface editor bug, in modeler, the colour square when naming an object does not indicate the actual color of the surface name showing.... It does not update. Also ANNOYING!!
It may be possible to write a flush lscript, i'll investigate.

Yes, it is mildly annoying. Thanks for the info. If you find a script to delete unused surfaces, please let me know.

if a surface has no polys attached to it, i believe it will be automatically flushed the next time you open the object

Yeah thats not good enough, of course the surfaces disappear after a reload of scene or object.... Thats not flushing, thats reloading.... It's a stupid oversight...
One thats has been their since 7.0 and was not fixed in 7.0b or 7.5.. just like the other bug i mentioned...
One, wonders sometimes....

I might reveal my newbie status with this question but, how does one remove a surface from an object? For example, let's say an object has two surfaces applied. Surfaces A & B. How do I remove surface A so that B is the only surface applied to the object? Again, making surfaces, no problem. Deleting surfaces, huh?

In the Statistics panel, select the poly's that you want to change, hit "q", and select the other surface.
