Hi there. I need to set up a coiled flat spring. Like a matress spring only flat and not round.

Any tips or tutorial sites to show me how to create a spiraling object? I kinda tried it on my own limited experience, but it is slow and not very mathematically defined.

Thanks!

use the Lathe tool on a simple disc

bring up the numeric panel 'n'

use the offset for how long you want the spring to be

360 * number of coils you want = end angle

hope this helps

*tip... lathe tool is great for making an elbow on a pipe too! just move the lathe tool into the proper position and set the end angle for 90, or -90 depending on the elbow, and voila!
