I have a bunch of locked files that won't unlock (error type-1) and I hope to throw them out by going into OS 9. But I forget exactly what to do to empty the OSX trash in OS9?
Any help here please?

I think it would be better to do it in OS X. There is a command line sequence that will do the trick, but unfortunately I can't remember it. However the OS X tips sites may be able to help you:

First, try running the Disk Utility in Applications/Utilities, to alter your permissions - this might enable you to empty the Trash.
Altenatively, move your stuff out of the OS X trash into a folder in a known location - then boot into OS 9 and ditch the folder. That's what I've had to do before now.

Get BatChmod... it's a front end to the chmod command line utility that changes permissions for stuff. You can drag any folder or file onto the app to alter permissions, or there's even a special button to force-delete the trash. (And no, I'm not the developer... I just like the app
).
Good luck!
