hi,
i was just wondering if the vt3 was going to have a cut clips section like the flyer had for breaking down large clips. i really liked this feature on the flyer, and was dissapointed that it was missing on the vt2. i have a small system and not alot of storage space like some of the other users might have. it seems like a waste to have junk footage sitting on the drives. so i would love the option of cutting down large clips.
thanks
MikeV,
I agree that that was a great feature of the Classic Toaster/Flyer, but the new Toaster is a different beast (higher resolution RTV files that look way better than the old HQ codec for one).
The closest thing to the "Classic's" method is to use "pause" or "chop," but these are somewhat hit and miss (i.e. one can easily "overshoot" the desired in-point or out-point).
In terms of saving or regaining HD space with T[2], one can digitize larger clips, razor them down, redigitize the the "new" clips, and delete the original, larger clips.
I would think that this issue will be resolved somewhat with the advent of T[3], and its batch capture function. I hope to be able to grab "mark in" and "mark out" points according to timecode, and perform more accurate and efficient digitizing tasks, thus saving HD space from the "git-go."

...which is one of the greatest reasons to use batch capture.
You can import just the clips you need, or, if you're not sure what you'll need, you could, for example, use highly-compressed MJPEG clips for creating a final EDL, then re-capture only the clips you need in the finalized edits as uncompressed.

Thanks for the thought.
I'm a real Frenchman, not a Quebecois.
If only I had a dime for every time a Quebecois makes me notice that I am not a Quebecois, I'd have more Toasters that I could dream of.
