I am trying to go a little beyond simple textured skin. I would like to add the soft fuzzy hair that is present to take it to another level of realism.
I am after a simple technique for emulating a soft fuzz on the surface, if I can emulate individual hairs then even better. Imagine the top of the fore-arm, or the cheek.
I have tried.
1. SaqLite - nope - hairs a far to big and object has to many polygons for this to work.
2. Adding an image map with very fine lines drawn on, taken down to 30% xparent, this kind of works, but up close, looks like lines drawn on the surface. Also no effect on the object edge.
3. Addng a seperate object over the top of the main one, xparent and mapped with the hair texture again. This works ok as I can add different surface characteristics to the hair texture. I am a little worried on doubling the poly count though.
Was wondering if there would be a volumetric technique I could use?
Any ideas, tips, comments very welcome. I will post a few examples once I have some good renders made.
Thanks, Sliver
