Hey Kids-
I'm excited about the timecode-based batch capture coming in T3. Does anyone know what adaptoids I'd need to connect the RS422 from the BOB, to a Panasonic AG1970 SVHS deck (which uses Panasonic's 5-pin "Control-M" port)?
I do have some very old RGB-Creations adapter boxes from my Amiga days, which converted RS232 to the AG1970. I don't suppose those would be of any use? :p
And this may have to wait until more technical details are released, but I'm wondering where the T3 will get its timecode readings? My camera puts VITC onto the tapes, which I don't think (?) the AG1970 can read directly. I'm wondering if the T3 will get its timecode from the deck (which in the AG1970's case would be relative to the begining of the tape or wherever you hit reset), or whether the T3 will look at the video signal during preroll to lock onto the VITC. This probably doesn't matter too much since you can trim down the clips in TED, as long as you're in the ballpark. But it would be nice to have exact (VITC) timecode for cases where you'd e.g. recapture in uncompressed for the final assembly...
However it works, I'm looking forward to T3! :D
