Squeak, Squeak, Squeak goes the wheel....

Auto Transition/Fade button to transition between elements in a DDR list.

For Example:

DDR with 120 static or looping moving lower thirds
Crossfade or DVE of choice between them

BIG BUTTON that performs the transition and moves down the list to the next. Duration would be set by the master speed on the switcher interface.

Currently we have to do all the odd numbered graphics in one DDR and the even in another DDR. Gets kind of confusing after a while.

PLEASE I am begging... Church clients are too.

Does nobody else think this is good idea?

My post was getting kind of lonely without any attention....

I posted this exact feature to the Beta Testers web site a couple of weeks ago. So I'll squeak here also!

Churches (and others) really, really NEED this feature.

Did you know that you CAN do this?

Just drop RTVs or TGAs, (with alpha), onto a DDR and then drop your transitions between the clips. Set the DDR as the DSK source and that's it. It works!

The pages will not only key overtop of the live video but the transitions will wipe the pages as well! You can start and stop the DDR as well as fad the DSK in and out. You can also throw in fully transparent TGAs at strategic places so you don't have to remember to fade the DSK in and out. Also you can instantly jump to a clip just by clicking on it.

I've even modified the keyboard shortcuts to add a 'go to center of clip' to compliment the 'goto beginning' and 'goto end' of clip. With the RS-8 hardware switcher the task becomes even easier.

But what I want to do is have a looping animation play (through the DSK) until I press a button and then fade to the next looping animation. There is no way, that I 'm aware of, to do this in VT[2].

Preset timing doesn't cut it, ministers have a tendency to get off track etc. so it needs to be triggered manually. And pausing and un-pausing static lower thirds with a DDR is so last millinium!

Jeff,

That is exactly what I am talking about. Come on Andrew!! I know it probably take you a day tops.

This one function will open avenues into the live playback market that have not even been touched yet.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE give me a NEXT button in the DDR!

okay, thanks, really,

Jef

Do remember that we have a keyboard shortcut “K” that does this already, at least with static elements. With a one-second transition, I set the still duration to three seconds. I need about a half-second reaction time. With a little practice, or youth, you might get away with two and a half seconds.

When you are ready to transition hit “K”. When the transition completes, hit “k” again. As Paul would say, rinse and repeat. That’s it, except that I usually set my first graphic for a 31-frame duration. That way, the first transition starts the moment I hit “k”.

Half second delay may seem too long for you, but this is in Church services, and often done with song lyrics with no perception of not being completely with the words.

Also remember that, even in Loop Selection, a DDR will step to the next loop and wait, when you transition to another DDR or anything. This is still a matter of using two DDRs, but totally automated.

Believe me I have tried and figured out nearly every way to make this easier for our church clients.

The big thing is what you said... it works with "static" elements.

We want this to work with full motion graphics and video clips.

Currently we have to run 3 to 6 DDRs to make something happen that could easily be done in one DDR with a next button.

Hope that clarifies what I am looking for.

I could be mistaken but I thought I heard somebody say something about a NEXT button on the DDR.

Maybe???

Patiently waiting... Ok Ok not that patiently, but still waiting. ;)

As soon as VT[3] is available publicly, I'll look at adding a 'Next clip' button to the DDR.

VT[3] is going to have a number of additional script commands that may make this easier.

Rudy's BBQ is the "Worst BBQ in Texas"!

They are about 10 minutes from Newtek and a favorite spot to eat. You actually can buy their sauce online if you like hot and spicy BBQ sauce.
