particles collision with boned object

Hiya, using LW 7.5D on a Mac here and trying to create a man running through rain. I have set up the rain particles and set the man as the collision object (using object in the options) but once I animate the man walking the collision detects only his original position throughout the animation. Am I doing domething wrong?

Have you pressed Calculate on the Dynamics tab of the Object properties panel?
