Hi people :)
Has anyone any experience of converting an avi to a screensaver? I know there are various packageas that can convert but I was wondering if anyone had a good experience with any before I pay out :) Also, I assume a resolution of 640x4800 is probably best to play back on a wide variety of PCs?
Cheers!

Thanks :) Looks like you have to first convert your avi to a flash file first using swishvideo, then convert that flash animation to a screensaver file using swishstudio. Seems like a long-way round, but then I guess if it's a flash animation then it's more likely to play back on any PC as opposed to an embedded avi which relies on codecs.
Thanks :)

Ooh...freeware! Even better :D
At the moment I'm looking at using kibisis to convert from avi to flash to bring the size down, and then to use Screensaver Maker to produce the exe file. Both of these are about $50-60 each so not too bad in the grand scheme of things. But if I can do it for free then even better!

There's also RAD Video Tools (http://www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm) . This allows you to save your avis as .exe, .scr, and it offers lots of options

Oh and it's FREE :D

If you look at Microsofts powertoys, you will find a free screensaver that plays avi's. The catch is they have not updated it yet for ver 10. In fact it checks for ver 9 on your system and if it does not find it, you get a window to download ver 9.
