Does anyone know how to get an image with alpha transparecy mapped onto a polygon (let's say a tree) to be reflected correctly in a reflective surface (how about glass)? The image is reflected, however the alpha is not used and the polygon onto which the image is mapped is seen (no alpha). Not the ideal result.

small important detail:
in the reflective material, the raytrace + spherical map is selected along with an image.
The problem does not occur otherwise.

Whats your ray recursion limit set to under render options?

If I understand you correctly, you're using an image-mapped poly to make a tree...
You'll get the best results from such things by using a separate alpha image on the Clip Map (not set in surfaces; it's set in object properties in Layout).

Yep. Clip map.
And make sure the polygon is "double sided".
