Hey. HEY! Yeah, I'm talking to you...
Is TEdit ever going to be unbundled from the main suite?
Perhaps after Batch Capture is finished and implemented?
I really do think that if you sound TEdit for $150 bucks, stand alone as an editor to compete aginst FCP, you'd have quite a few buyers.
Just a thought

$150 is a little cheap. I couldn't sell it and stay in business as it would cannabalize my Toaster sales. Plus no one would believe it was a serious editor at a 'toy' price.
I say price it at $995 and compete directly with FCP and Avid Express. With batch capture and some improvements to the filters it could, if marketed properly, kick some Apple butt.

TED -LOL :D
I think $700 would be appropriate for all masses.

Let's get it out first, then we can debate the price! :)

Well the problem is that if NewTek ships with a silly low price it will be too late. I don't think they will try to sell it for a hundred buckes though. I could live with $700, but I say if it's as good as FCP it's worth as much as FCP.
Plus TEd = $995
Aura = $895
LW = $1595
-----------
$3485
Toaster (Includes above plus more) = $2995
It shouldn't be cheaper to buy the seperate bits of the Toaster, so TEd at a grand works out pretty good.
But hey it's not up to me. :)

TED has to be able to effectively compete with $99 to $500 editors and thier feature set before NEWTEK could ever realisticly think about unbundling and competing against the likes of FCP and AVID. VEGAS has a more robust feature set! Most of the editing features TED is missing now means you have to jump over to AURA to get done and then export back to TED. No support for third party filters limits your toolset. No QuickTime support is another bummer. It would be nice to be able to mute selected Audio and or Video tracks, not to mention the weak audio support. For short quick projects TED is a contender, but constant work arounds for me are a time killer. Creativity should flow. Jumping between TED and Aura does not flow. I have found my self in a dilema. I love NEWTEK, but I hate my TED and I'm growing tired of doing stuff on my buddy's FCP system because we can do everyting we need to do from within it's interface. Yes we have to render, but I would cut out the realtime portion of my Toaster if I could just edit unhindered!!
There, I've let it out. . . .

We'd have to do a LE version to compete with that $99 Final Cut Express P*O*S*......Count me in for a full version for all of my workstations though (4)

Seems like there's quite a bit of interest in a portable, potable, unbundling of TEDit. Its a great editor!
Price range anywhere from 300-700 bucks? Say $499? That sounds like a "suite" spot. :)
I'm positive the aliens at NewTek are listening. Don't they have a souped up auditory transmorgifier that enables them to surrendipitously and spontaneously bake all these additions in without batting an eyelash? (Don't ask me what that meant. I apologize for that creative spat).
GO NEWTEK!

If somebody got one of those "PCI extension" things for laptops couldn't that work? (Theoretically of course.......) :confused:
