View Full Version : New Work
Thought id stick up some new work.
Nice pictures, but PLEASE go out and photograph or buy some sky photos. The one you used over and over is terrible and doesn't fit to the reflections in the glass. The Dosch skies are great, and they include more than one sky ;)

Very nice stonework! I really like the varyng coiors in the paving stones. Are those procedural or baked surfaces? I'm trying to produce a flagstone plaza myself and I'd just like to see how you achieved individual colors for some of the stones which really adds to the detail.
hi ingo, i will work on my sky's but i tried 1 surrounding sky from dosch but it was just to low res - 2000 x by something.
dgon64 - there texture maps made up from swatch images of paving. There pretty big to cut down on repeating but I spent a long time working out as much repeating as possible. Then there are some procedurals over the top to (just lightly).

Hiya,
I'm really impressed with the renders there Lude :)
When I started out learning Lightwave (which I still am of course) my first reactions were always based on "wow that looks good".
Since I've been messing around with it for a while now my reaction has changed slightly to "omg look how much work has gone into that!"
Do you have a rough estimate of how long this project took?
I've only worked on interiors so far myself and haven't started thinking about how to create the exterior shapes :)
Comments:
Sky: Keeping the same sky image, I would tweak it by desaturating it slightly (loose some of the vibrancy in the blue) and I think that would instantly blend in with the render well.
Brick texture: Nice one, the contrast seems spot on.
Plants: Lovely touch - still a challenge I'm dreading, but I MUST learn how!
Net Curtains: Nicely shaped, nicely textured - I would be very interested in seeing your settings (It was a topic I asked on the forum a while back).
Green Hedge: Again very slightly desaturate it, but the contrast looks good.
Lighting: Lovely :)
Thing with graphics, the more you look at it the more you want to play and tweak things, its so hard to put something down and say "Right, it's finished". Well so much for me to learn still and its images like yours that help me understand what to aim for :)
again nice one
Cheers
Dah.

Hello there caesar,
Imperfections are all well and good, but who would buy them.
We as artists love these imperfections and tyring to get closer and closer to reality.
But clients just don't want them, they want to sell the illusion of happy shiney people and for some reason people buy it.
I just don't understand, people, or myself for that matter.

Amen! People are easily sold on a fantasy or image...marketing. Look how many people drive SUV's.....rugged off road vehicles and the "potential" freedom to go anywhere......all they do is drive to work on paved roads and complain about traffic.
Clean (sterile renderings) fantasy sells houses.

Hiya Lude,
I think they are awsome! Can u share your set-up with us? Radiosity?
Thanks
nige.
It's using very light blue backdrop Radiosity (LW Render Engine), disitant lights as fills and 1 area light for the sun.

Thanks for the tip-I knew there was a bit more to it than just a simple procedural or basic image map. The best work doesn't show all the effort that went into making it!

All right then!!! I cant deny that the images are outstanding! really make the houses "desirable" :) Excellent work!
