Re-Install questions

I've got my first set of Aura, 2.5b in the box. I instinctively chose custom install, 'cause I like to see what I'm getting.

I thought I'd chosen every option, but there are no tutorials as the manual suggests there should be. I'm guessing that a re-install might fix this, but I'm concerned what I might lose by doing this.

Does anyone have any suggestions/experience with re-installing without losing much in the way of existing setups.

they have all of the tuts online at newtek.com

and they have the small video clips at ftp.newtek.com

If nothing else, the online tut's will work, but at my limited (26.4) dialup, it wouldn't break my heart to have the CD based versions installed. Anybody know what I might be asking for to re-install?

re-installing shouldn't be a problem. The only thing to make sure you do is to move your projects folder out of the Aura folder, if you haven't already done that. If not, all the projects you've done so far will be lost.

I backed up everything of interest in the 2.5b folder and re-ran setup. Sensing I already had Aura installed, it came up in maintenance mode, allowing me to add or remove elements. When I searched through the options for the tutorials, I couldn't find any mention.

Does anyone know with certainty that there are (or are not) tutorials on the 2.5b cd. The book says 'yes', but I can't find anything I've missed.

I dont have them either, dont think they are included in the 2,5b cd. Seems that Newtek rushed this product out to make quick cash before they dumped the product.

I don't believe that there were any new tutorials made for 2.5b. The ones on the 2.0 CD are the only ones, as far as I remember, so you could just move those over to your 2.5 file.

i think the problem is that the 2.5b version doesn't include the tutorials, and obviously they don't send a version 2.0 cd with the 2.5b version.

so the last people to buy this product from newtek didn't get them. no biggie, the manual does a good job of introducing the tools, and the pdf files help introduce the new tools.... even if they don't work as described. cough lw plugin cough

I asked NT tech support about this, but never received a response... must be a responsibility changeover snafu with tvPaint ...
I'll keep trying, and let you know what I find.

Took awhile (and three requests) But NT finally mailed me the missing tutorials.
Indeed they're not on the 2.5 cd.
