View Full Version : Gaffer or G2?
Besides the price...
What would the preferred Worley plug be for doing realistic scene lighting. I am a little confused. It seems both Gaffer and G2 do the same things, it's just that G2 does a lot more. Am I correct on this one? Can someone with some experience with both of these plug-ins share a little knowledge?
Thanks,
Ken

Yes (I believe) G2 is the "Gaffer 2". So it is in your best interests to get the G2.
Thanks for the info Stoehr.
I guess I really didn't put it together
G2 = Gaffer 2

I think it started out as a Gaffer2, but ended up being sooo much more.

We bought Gaffer around 2-3 years ago. We used it for a couple of months on a few projects and have never used it since. Not exactly user friendly and the renders were sloooooow! G2 on the other hand was purchased when it came out (nice discount from being a previous customer) and it is IMHO REVOLUTIONARY!!! Lights added to the scene update the preview in realtime, change settings of lights, tweak surfaces, everthing realtime. Also it does not add render time like Gaffer does. Is it worth $500? YES!YES!YES!

And Despite it's name, G2 doesn't neccesarily mean Gaffer 2. Worley labs says that G2 is only the codename for the project while they were developing it and the name just sort of stuck.
And yes, I would definately get G2 over gaffer.
