Toaster 3? As in a completely new board, or as in a software update?

I am almost, absolutely, completely confident it's only software.
I still find it amazing that the VT Board Tim and his gang built over a decade ago is still capable of doing what it does.
How’s that for a visionary, or very, very lucky!;)

Ah, I think you're confusing the new Toaster card with the Classic Toaster card if you think it's over a decade old! ;)

If you go back to the Frame Factory, which was the same hardware, the present card is about five years old...

Yes, Toaster[3] would be a software only upgrade.

Oh, unless you actually did mean the Classic Toaster still going strong... Yes, very impressive. :)

I've still got 2 OT's (Original Toasters) - one a 2000 and another that is a 4000 with a Flyer NLE board.

Funny story - I was recently hired as Station/Operations Manager for a NPO Access Center startup in which a bunch or production equipment came across from the cable company. Needless to say, not many valuable things (other than the studio cameras and the truck) were included in the deal - they kept the Media 100........ however, a Amiga 4000 tower was in the box, along with a couple of A2000's and SuperGen's - as well as an external drive enclosure. Hmmmmm........ could it be?

Yup ! Amiga 4000 with a Toaster/Flyer/DPS TBC-IV combo!!!! 2 new video drives later and we have a working NLE system! Apparently, the cable folks didn't even know what the A4000 had inside it - it was sitting for a few years with a couple of bad Micropolis 9GB drives (remember those old, giant 5 1/4" clunkers?):p

Next up is a new T2 powerhouse........ I've already talked them out of one of those overpriced Globelscam junk boxes, now I just have to keep them away from FCP and Avid :D

I don't think anyone knows when T[3] will be available, but according to this post, we'll be able to witness it at NAB:

I wonder if we'll be able to frame-accurately insert and assemble edit to tape?
