I just had a problem with my Apple Studio Display 17" which I bought 2 years ago . It started with this crazy zoom effect and popping sound. It was so repeated I had to shut it down. Anyway I decided to check Apple Knowledge base articles and came upon a strean of posts virtually describing exactly my problem.

I phoned Apple and they gladdly to me to bring in the monitor as it's part of a national service campaign.

I have an LG Flatron monitor which started doing the same thing some time ago. For some reason the problem then went away, and has not returned. Maybe it's common to many CRTs.

I'm not sure. All I know is that there seems to be a major problem worldwide with this type of apple monitor.
