I'm looking at it now. It's next to the Easter Bunny sitting on Santa's lap.

I am eagerly awaiting Jim P. statement on where Speed Edit is that he promised he will xplain to us by this week. Al though I am anxious to hear it, tomorrow is only Friday so he will still have one more day after that for him to let us in on what is going on as he promised.

The quote is findable but I believe he said 'We hope to have a statement by next week' or something to that effect.

Not 'I promise I will tell you. I swear. Cross my heart'.

Things may have arisen and they are not prepared to offer a shipment date yet. When they are I am sure we will be the first to know.

Some may be skeptical, but I personally believe "soon" actually means "soon."

Last Friday Jim Plant stated: "SpeedEDIT is very, very close and VT[5] won't be too far behind. Our goal is to provide an update next week." I guess you could say that is a maybe but I would never be able to get away with saying that to my clients and expect them to want to work with me in the future, if I didn't follow through with a statement. I don't even know why I am even on this forum now anyway.

Well its now Friday morning and if Newtek was smart they would have posted a message before today. If a customer asks me when the video will be ready, whatever answer I give I better make that mark. Even better is to beat the mark. Especially when the customer allready feels its been too long.

I really don't understand what NewTek is refering to when they say they can't do anything until licensing agreements have been resolved. Don't they own their own product or are they having pieces made by different companies.

If you're referring to my comment, Steve, about providing a free demo version, allow me to explain.

Yes, NewTek has hand-coded SpeedEDIT, but some of the codecs within SpeedEDIT must be licensed from other companies.

Which is a very normal situation. And companies that run into that situation normally remove "extra" codecs in the demo, still leaving the base functionality there for potential new users to try.
