I just have to say thanks for the awesome motion graphics that were built by Tim Johnson. For me those alone were worth the wait for the program! So far SpeedEdit has met all my expectations- I am very happy with how it handles and leverages numerous different types of video codecs .mov, .avi, mp4's, mpgs etc...
Newtek has really outdone themselves with this product.

Ditto! I didnt get the time to use SE in depth yet, but I followed the instructions to use the Motion Graphics and I was blown away. It was like watching network news. I cant wait to dig into SE.

I was really impressed, Tim rocks!

Let me play the marketing guy here...

Would having more of these type of motion templates be something you would be willing to pay for?

If so, how much for how many?

What themes?

(I'm asking for third parties as much as for NewTek)

I would pay for them. I dont know a price. I do know it would be as valuable to me as the 3D Arsenal Theater I bought. That cost around $500 or so but I think there are 750 templates, although, many of them are variations of one scene. But, there must be a couple hundred templates available, so it is still cheap for the price.

Lemme think about the themes and get back to you.

I'm always buying these. Digital Juice has gotten quite a few dollars from me, the last order was 10 volumes of HD stuff.
Eric Pratt has also, but mostly effects. I just got my second order from 12 Inch Design. All of these are great products and have paid for themselves many times.

Easy and quick to throw these at clients and it makes us look more talented then we are!
I bought a pac from Tim Johnson back in the Trinity Days.

The most important thing is professional looking, and variety. You don't want to have a theme with 2 versions.

What do you have in your head John?

I'm sure there would be a market for motion CG packs.

I also think that a bundle the size of the great package Tim put together is fantastic to include in Speed Edit - it's a fast way to aquaint users with some of the power that is now at their fingertips.

Ditto on the Digital Juice I think my collection of DJ is well over $6k or so? So if there was something more specific to SpeedEdit I would buy it for sure. I would try and follow their model look at their catagories and pricing and do just a bit better (that is my "If I Worked for Newtek" thought)

(Now as a user) You should kick DJ's butt provide 500 templates all animated and Very high quaility for $49...

I was hoping that 3D Aresenal would come up with template packages along the line of motion backgrounds. I like the pricing structure of 3D Aresenal Ammo packs.

Same here, Ted. I got that same 10 volume HD set this summer. :)

Until you use them, you don't realize how much quality it really does add to your productions having those kind of animated backgrounds at your disposal.

I bought the 3-D arsenal packs and would definately be interested in more templates - especially anything that can be rigged to work in a live environment. I'm going to check into the digital juice. I really want about 50 really cool 3D-Lightwave transitions like 3-D arsenal, but with a bunch of nonsense like you see on instant replays & highlight reels etc... I'm really looking for football/basketball themes right now

Is there a way to take these CG's into VT4?

I do a lot of weddings and photo montage, video slide show type work. So put my vote in for wedding looking stuff.

I honestly haven't had time to look at the ones that were included. Too busy editing some projects I kept putting off, knowing SE would get here eventually :)

Would love to see other packs. I'd say $99.95 - $149.95 depending on the number of templates. Themes should be easy to come up with. Just visit Digital Juice or 12" for inspiration. Sports, Weddings, Corporate, Education, Broadcast, Holidays...yada, yada, yada!

Digital Juice has been very agressive with their pricing over the last year. They have put together some nice "pick and choose bundles" or big discounts for buying multiple series. Tim & or Newtek should follow this approach.

OT - Newtek should buy Alpha CG from Innovision Techologies to be the next gen full featured CG for VT5 and SE but keep current SE CG. Inno use to have a website but it seems to have disappeared so I guess they are finally done. Ralph turned me on to Alpha years ago and it was and still is a pleasure to use.

I don't find any anything reference SE CG. How do I get into it?

There's not an "it" to get into.

The CG in SpeedEDIT is the effect croutons under the titles tab. They are still, crawl and scroll. You just put them where you want them on the timeline and open the control panel to use them.

Thanks for the words, guys. Newtek's got some cool tools. It was fun putting the stuff together. I hope they work out for everyone.

Watch for stuff in the future. We found some "backdoors" to go through on some of these effects and push the envelope a bit. Hopefully we'll be able to "exploit" those a little and get more stuff going.
