I have been reading that the bg render does not work correctly, is this true?

would this also affect inteligent rendiring?

It worked for me when it was turned on....

I'm only going 2 or 3 layers at at time in DV usually, so aside from a couple of motion CGs with a multiple simultaneous moves, everything's been realtime for me, once I reconfigured the background rendering prefs.

I like it better than VTEdits (4.6) background render in that you have a lot more control over what gets automatically background rendered. In preferences you can set how many layers of video and overlay need to be happening before it kicks in the background render.

Currently there is a bug that causes all DVE's to re-render when certain storyboard operations occur.

Most systems shouldn't really need to render DVE's. It mainly effects really old systems or people who don't change the background rendering preference to fit their system.

The default is to background render anything over one stream, just to make sure that SpeedEDIT works well on slower systems.

It's not something that will keep you from using background rendering, it's an annoyance, but it will be fixed.
