Speededit crashes when trying to add a .hdr file to the timeline.
It also won't show uncompressed avi's that were output by Lightwave.

Can you send me an example file that crashes? We didn't specifically add .hdr files as an image format, so I'd really like to test that out. jperkins@newtek.com

Also, I retested bgr32 uncompressed avi's from Lightwave and had no problem.

What codec and size was the avi?

Thanks,
John

I tested with HDR files and yes, those are causing problems.

We'll see about fixing that.

Thanks,
John

John, we had a little conversation a few months ago about these same issues. I havn't touched Speededit since because I really can't use it...

- I can't load any uncompressed LW clips, as they just stay black
- Various Avi's crash speededit on browsing to the folder that they're in (the ones I sent you last time, I guess it slipped your mind, as I havn't heard from you about those)
- A .hdr in the folder that another file is in will crash Speededit
- Can't get AAC sound from Quicktime files

I have the Lightwave 9.2 Demoreel to edit next week, and I'm getting source material from about a dozen people, no predicting what format or compressors used, and it's a big enough job as it is. I'd really like this solved before I start working on it.

I sent Gil Triana a short clip which doesn't load for me, and also a .hdr file. I havn't heard from him.

Gil sent those to me yesterday and an engineer has already been looking into them.

It just takes a little time to go from getting the report to pinpointing the problem to releasing a tested solution.

We are looking at the issues though.

Ok, now Speededit doesn't want to import uncompressed quicktime files, corrupts the sorenson 3 quitimes in the preview window, nor does it properly convert a certain JPG image sequence to a clip, it stays in individual frames. Is there any way to force a list of images to become a clip? I have to go through LW to convert the clip to an avi now to get it into Speededit. Bit silly, really... :chicken:

I've for now re-rendered all the uncompressed avi's from LW to NTCodec avi's which seems to work well. I don't have quicktime pro though so those QT issues remain unsolved.
