Apply envelop to multiple objects to dissolve at same time.

I have a scene with hundreds of objects and I want to dissolve them in, say in batches of about 40 at the same time using envelops.

How can I apply the same envelop setting to multiple objects at the same time. If I need to do them 1 at a time it’s going to take ages.

You can do this in the new scene editor. On the Property tab chose Object->Render Oprions, in the Object Dissolve column select the items you want to fade, click E and set your envelope.

umm, the small E beside one the the selected items?

If so it still only lets me do the one that I click on and not the selected set.
