Ya, couldn't figure that one out. Was a quick render don't really know what's causing it.

My guess would be to try a different light type -or- up the shadow samples (at least 16). Or at least use the shadow settings as a starting point.

p.s. How did you get nice FAT hair?

seriously, what is up with all these renders that are PLUNGED IN DARKNESS? are people trying to be green and save energy? is something trying to be shown or HIDDEN?

what's wrong with a big ol light that shines on the FRONT of the object?

Umm I'm guessing you mean the second pic. That's the FFx volume render with final gather. The first one is just the Fiberfilter. The only thing I changed from the default settings was the length and density which was 150%.

I'll play with the shadow settings to see If I can get cleaner renders.

It's an artistic representation of man's struggle with his destiny.

Notes on my render:

I was trying to recreate darkChief's artifacts, but didn't know he was using final gather. I used an area light. Render time (amd x2) about 2m30s. FFX: 18 shadow samples, interpolated.

Random as in, random placement of lights?

Hm. I'll ask myself these questions the next time I watch certain scenes in The Dark Knight, Blade Runner and Alien...or read a Frank Miller comic book.

well... at least when it comes to first person shooters, it is a pretty common and somewhat valid complaint.

It's illegal for anyone on these forums to request furry bunnies when they've removed :cat: from there lower/end of statement/ callsign thingy. You ought to be ashamed, talk about double standards  :D

Come along there darkcheif, the crowds are waiting, more bunnies please.

Well then let there be more bunnies! lol

Been playing around some more. I like this results better. No radiosity, just the fiberfilter for all of them.
Bigger renders this time and a lot brighter.:D

OMG, is that article for real?! It sounded like it was written by the "Onion" Newspaper, which is of course not really news.

"You get to punctuate [the gameplay of standard action titles] a lot more with triumphs and successes, and you just don't get to do that very much in survival horror," added Carmack.

"You know, you want to say 'I'm victorious,' not 'I'm not dead.' It's just a fundamentally more rewarding genre to be in."

I sure hope Carmack isn't designing the next id game. Nothing against programmers. . .

OMG! I've been caught! I completely forgot my kitty, and I am duly chastised. It's been a long few weeks, with the move, getting new school registering, Moving to school, buying new car, moving into car, finding new house, moving into house, It's been crazy. Please, please don't hold my feline forgetfulness against me, it was purely lack of sleep and general hysteria that caused this momentary laps of loss of feline companionship (although, if they had a bunny icon I would be sooooo there:) )
