Nice. Looks a few tweaks away from great. What is the thickness (or whatever it's called) set to on the hair?

Thanks!

I recall it was 500% or 1000%

Hai Mr SAmus,..are you using FFX strand tool or just old fashion spline converted hair guide? since now am playing with this thing too, but cant manage to get decent haircut with FFx strand tool(umh and soo buggy),

nice hair btw..

Hi!!

Well i start with Modeler Fiberfx, but i dont use the strand tool for it's lack
of combing falloff , However i manage in FFX modeler interface to add sufficient Fiber Sides between 5 to 10 segments. Including the fact that
the hair is not generated "By Area" but by "1 per polygon" strand generation.
Once in Layout i use the Edit guide wich is lots of fun but Buggy.

Having sufficient edge Qty make's nice curvy hair. Note that when you do that you need not to have a too high Fiber smooth(Layout) make's too many artifacts.

Good luck!

Sam

Wovv. Your skin shading awesome. How you did it? Can you show us please.

Hey!!

To "Savagery": the skin shader is very simple.

- added simple skin node that is way better than fast skin

- used Material blender plugin to add a blinn Specular

- 1 texture map duplicated : 1 skin color ; 1 red color
(played with the Hue)

- Normal map for bump (Done in 3D-Coat)

The grainyness comes from the simple skin node when you lower the samples
and helps give the general feel of the skin.

That's it!!

Gotta say it's Fun!!
Still have some hair i can't get out of the Ear.I cranked up the shadow from 40% to 70%.
Some Completely white hair pop up (Maybe the specular)
But i like the look of things.

One QUESTION though if anyone can help!!!
how can i save the hair once i edited the guide.
Cause somewhat when i save, i lose my layout Combing.
Even save objec transform can't help.

Including that adding dynamics (ClothFX) in the hair does not show up at render.

Awesomely expressive face on your character there.
I'm guessing he's going to be animated (saw some different phenomes going on...) - any chance the community will be treated to any moving samples?

Thank's!!

I still have a lot to do before anything. But ill gladly show some in time.
i had thought of a animation for the LW siggraph contest but lack of time
and so much has to be done. Anyways it's a character for a short still on stand by.

Cheers !!

Very impressive skin and hair is becoming better and better.
FF is powerful but its little unfriendly but they seem to be a faster progression in the lw beta forums with updates to FF.

Nice work, Samus!

Are you working with endomorphs on the character? I've been having problems with FFX becoming idabled/non-working when either morphmixer or subpatch levels are changed (it's a known issue apparently) and was wondering if you'd run across the same thing and if so, how are you working around it?

{Need to figure out why it does'nt follow ClothFx}.

Hi Samus,

First of all congrats for your model and the hair.
About the cloth thing, you have to go on file Tab (ClothFX)
save your motion and change the "Playback mode" to "LOCAL"
and Voilá the FFx is moving with the ClothFX :hey:
