Is there any difference between the commercial and educational version? My neice is into editing old home videos and wants to make some great titles and stuff. She saw what I did on some of my stuff and loved the 3d Arsenal stuff. She is graduation from college next May and is eligible for the academic version of 3da. Is there a difference between that and the full version I bought?

in content? No.
In rights? Yes. Can't use for commercial work. I think the license expires when you graduate, but read the EULA and most certainly do NOT take my word for it.

You could get a edu version of LightWave and buy the Content Only version of 3DA for it, but the fact is it should not be used for commercial work.
