I love it! Great weight and character. The cartoon render with it is a great match.
I'm hoping we get to see a lot more great animation out of LW. With some of the new CA tools they have introduced. This is a great example of what is to come.

Whoah... you're clearly a talented animator! Would love to see more. How long did it take to rig this guy?
How long did it take to animate him too? ... and any chance of a tutorial video showing us all how you managed it all?
I love the sense of character even though it's a load of boxes... brilliant stuff!

I love it! Great weight and character.
+1. Good to show weight in animation.
I've been very happy with the new rigging in Lightwave, save for one problem: when fixing bone problems, one would normally turn off IK... and any POLE and TARGET options. But you can't. Just the IK.
Once that gets resolved, I don't see any reason for Lightwave to be deficient in Character Animation anymore.

Not only is it a cool rig to work with...you really know how to animate!
Very cool work!

Pretty nice work man, I'd also like to see your rigging for this character if wouldn't mind sharing it.

wow thnx everybody im realy happy u like it and a big thnx for all ur positive comments :D
this is a simple test only with few boxs and pole item use and there is no toon shader only edges render ;)
i have an idea of how to do a complicated rig similar to the XSI or MAYA with constraints to switch between two ik chains....... il post it soon, im realy busy thoes days but promisse il do it soon
Here is the walk cycle scene :)

Wonderful and thanks for sharing, It makes me wanna get deeper in how to rig things.
This kind of stuff should be in Lightwave contents, maybe with a little refinement to make a more complete spider body aswell.
This would be sweet with some fiberfx on it too.
Generally I hate bugs, but Im also fascinated of them aswell, amazing creatures and especially spiders and it shows that you like them too:)
Great stuff and Thanks:thumbsup:

Fun little rig! Thanks for sharing MrJack! I've suggested to the content team that they get in touch with you to ask about adding the rig and model and the sample scenes you used to create the videos to the v9 content update they are working on.

Fun stuff!
I've downloaded your rig file (thanks btw) but I don't understand how your legs are using the Pole items :S The bones in the legs don't have any pole selected in the motion options at all...
What am I missing? (this is new to me in LW)
Thanks,
Dominic

Ah ok thanks, I'll take a look again tonight!
Has the IK 'algorithm' been updated then? The first post sounds like something's changed in terms of the actual IK - I don't know enough about it to know either way?
Before downloading the sample scene I was expecting this to use the new jints and poles stuff, my impression from the first post that this is something that coudln't previously be done in LW.... Again, as I've not really used LW bones yet I don't know what has changed to make this possible if it wasn't before, especially as it uses z-axis bones and not with poles.... if you follow.
I am intrigued! :)
