Absolutely LOVE the last one. A full animation of any of these would be outstanding. Excellent work!

I tried to do an old 280Z in a similar fashion and it's still in my project folder, just waiting.... This is where cars meet organic modeling.

Here are a couple more. The last one is using the new paint shader in 9.51

Proton - you mean wireframe screen captures, or renders ? If renders, how do I do that ?

For subpatched objects there is a great plugin from art called "Polygon Coloring". it is now also available for 64 bits.
http://www.artssphere.com/plugins/polygoncoloring.php

Or you can try this technique from Proton..

And your cars rock man. I like the Pickup from your first post :)

YIKES! Great stuff here. I was working on a Big Daddy Roth/hot rod render, a twisted up hot rod with the arm shifting through a hole in the roof, when I had a hard drive fail. Lost it all. After seeing this I'm going to start over. Nice.

VERY COooOL! It reminds me of the old hot rod kits Tom Daniel designed.

Check this site out, for insperation.
http://www.showrods.com/

I built many of those kits as a kid and I've been buying some of my faves on eBay.

Madison, Why ?
I'm north of you - Eau Claire/Chippewa Falls area.

Great looking models. I was thinking of doing something like this of my Mustang this winter when I get back into it.

Keepem' coming.

Proton - Just started playing with the car paint material after watching your tutorial . I think this is a great material node for me :):)

I will post the new render of the VW Drag Van using the new car paint material node when it finishes.

Well... now that I am trying the Car Paint Material with my regular settings a scene.... My render times have skyrocketed.

I need to figure out a new studio scene that is simple and renders quickly, allowing chrome to shine. HDR Image with Light***** is what I have been using.

Any ideas ??

Set the base coat of the paint to use interpolated relection (in it's advanced settings, try the defaults) and set the reflection quality of the gloss coat to be 1. Try setting al your reflection materials to have a reflection quality of 1, and make sure you use the new perspective camera, with adaptive sampling of about 0.03. You should see a drop in the render times... Hopefully! :)

I love these little cars! Very full of character and life! :)

Tobian -

Thanx - I will try these settings and camera when I get home from work today. I will have plenty of time to play around then.

Well here is the latest render using the new Car Paint material node.

Also changed the settings so it would render faster. But now I have no shadows on the base.

Another test coming.... any ideas ??

Post a list of what is going on in the scene. Type of Lights, etc

If your using a Dome Light you might lower teh angle and that woul dmake less soft shadows and lower teh render time

Well, thanx to watching Protons videos and other people suggestions, I decided to create a new scene totally on my own with minimal lights and hopefully faster render times.

Well after a day of playing around and testing, this is the result. Not too bad, needs a little tweeking, but render times are at 6-8 min.

Let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions for improvements

looks good. I would turn smoothing on your surface and turn shadows off for all but your key light

Proton - Thanx for the tips again.

Here is the latest render using my new scene setup, 3 lights and the new car paint material !

Think it turned out really well. Render time on my machine about 18 min

Very cool! You might want to do that kind of studio environment lighting style, and add some objects which are over 100% luminous round it, to give it some cool reflections, like William did in his video. You should try enabling radiosity, you can get very rapid times with it nowadays!
