It uses saslite in the skin and in the cloth to get a little fur
it also uses Virtual Darkroom and Corona as post processing inside lightwave itself.

saslite gives it a good touch.
is it just a practice or for some work?

I really like the modelling too, a lot of character. Are you going to animate him?

Very nice model, and good animation too.
I have a few specific comments:
The wind on the fur is distracting. Perhaps you are going to put him in some sort of stormy environment, but it seems he is standing in a blizzard. It could be less emphasized.
The mouth does seem to shrink a lot horizontally, without the lower cheeks either side becoming as proportionately narrow (this can be seen in the stills you chose). It would also fit with the thin build of the character. Actually I may not have noticed this if there was sound in the video, I think we all pay more attention to such idiosyncrasies when we only have the visual content.
A suitable background, and perhaps lower ambient lighting, would already help.
I really like the modelling too, a lot of character. Are you going to animate him?

Really nice work. It would be great to see closeups and more detailed texturing. Only crit is the nose... it's big!

Pfff, wow, simply wow, that really looks awesome, loved the animation aswell !!!
Do you plan to do some more animations with him ? Show some magic spells and stuff ?
