I started this project about a week and a half ago, modeling and sculpting on my free time. Mainly for fun and for practicing workflow, SSS and use of various maps. Ive been looking for projects like this to play around with SSS and feel its alright and some what dialed in but could use some more work. I started this as a high res sculpt with a lot of skin details, but a lot of those details dont show up in the render. Im using the simple skin material and cant figure out how to get more detail in the final render. I suppose the nature of the sss skin is that it makes the skin translucent and makes the finer details fade. Any suggestions?

Anyway here are the first very very early Character WIPS.. the face is very basic just a block out really.. I started doing some zbrushing on the hat and goggles..

This project will be completely rendered using Lightwave :) however we do all have jobs so it might take some time but Ill post some WIPS when they come about..

So I've had Lightwave to long not to use it in my production pipeline, so I am now dedicated 2-3 hours a day learning more about it, and hopefully in a couple of weeks (or months, he he) I can actually use it in a music video or some motion graphics.

The modelling part is not to bad, but rendering, that's a different story for me. so that is what I'm really going to focus on now.

ok, so I followed a tut to get this soccer ball modelled. chose a soccer ball cause I had no idea how to get the hexagon and pentagon shapes on the ball.

here is a basic render of it attached.

My exercise here is to learn how to make it look realistic.

I have applied a nice leathery texture to the bump map.

Could someone please roughly guide me to how I go about rendering this to look realistic soccer ball (ie a product render)? I would apreciate it alot!?

While I was working to the final concept and modeling the first architectural bits I was still thinking to an old project I`ve done a few years ago. So, after a while I switched and I continued to work to "The Nest", the name of my new project.

As a real time render engine I`m using Quest 3D, which I already know it at a decent level,, it`s pretty fast for prototyping and it can handle heavy content.
Because at this prototyping stage I`m not using real time lighting, all the textures are baked, including lighting.
A few quick offline renders.







And few real time render screenshots.These are not final, but a good first step in the right direction.
It took me quite a while to get here. A lot more time than I initially expected.

The reason for the re-post is that a 'friend' was to do the audio for this one before I considered it done. He stalled and stalled and eventually did no audio.

I have better renders of this that does not looks so bland, but I am posting it for everyone to see, with a little hope that perhaps someone will be willing to do audio for this for credits in either the beginning or the end. It would be great to finally be able to finish it.

I would like to show you some pre-rendered concept images form one of my half-dead experimental dream projects.
This is my vision of how a highly anticipated Ecco the Dolphin sequel should look like.
But the main goal of this 'fanmade project' at the moment is to try to develop a single demo level. (I had even more insane and ambitious ideas before:))

These concept images were created for purely experimental/demonstration purposes (!).
Completely modeled, surfaced and almost instantly rendered in LightWave.

Once again, i certainly hope that one day i will turn this demo scene into a small playable level. I just need more spare time. Much more...
