Tommy Vercetti, First Game Model?
1 Attachment(s)
I asked how I might make a good Game model in these forums a small while ago, the support was minimal, but thats not why i made this thread.
I jjust want a bit of input in regards to my attempted model of Tommy Vercetti from 'GTA: Vice City'. I will provide the model which is partially surfaced, and no UV mapping. |
Ok I dont know how much help i'll be since I haven't done game on lightwave for a long time but here goes.back when I was doing games the fewer polygons the better so I would try to reduce the poly count. also if you can find a game model even if its for 3ds or other try to import it into lightwave to c how some one else builds models. these days i'm not sure if triangles are in or not because I'm know 3ds gamers use trangle to build game models. also the head looks to small for the body. O don't for get your not going to use subd's in the game world so try building it the old fasion way (?) and think of what the simplest way to do it. good luck hoped I help a little.

Yea, the head or the chest/torso area seems wide from the front.

well i can tell you from banging my head against a brick wall for quite a while now on trying to build game models in lightwave that it is no easy feat. especially if you are looking at exporting it to the .x file format with dStorm's plugin.
i can tell you though that subd's are out and you must use triangles, not quads or greater. again, if you are using the dStorm plugin you can't use any morph mapping in your animations and all weightmaps must equal a minimum of 100% for every point......... but i could go on and on about using the dStorm plugin for exporting and i don't know if you are even looking that far forward yet. let me know if you are and i will let you know what i have learned. i am finally getting some good results from it so feel free to ask. Thanks Guys, I agree the model does seem a little out of perportion, and just so you know, It will not be used as a game model, Im just making him for a commerical.
He hasnt been UV'd so if anyone has the time, I'll give you his skin and you can demonstrate your UV abilities, note that I wont use your work I will only use it to learn if thats a concern of yours. |
