Why It is in Blender and Why in Lightwave it isn't
Hello!
Few days a go i discover Blender in 2.44 version. It's a open source utils and Blender is not so good as a Lightwave. But one option in Blender is fantastic.
This option is a bezier curve. The edition of bezier curve in Blender is mutch better then in lightwave. Curve is all the time active and you can make modyfication of curve any time you want. If you want close a curve you don't must connect first and last point. After it without any problems you can make on this curve a extract and bevel and what is the best still you can make some modyfication on curve.
Why Newtek can't make sucha think in Modeller ??
This is option is much better then in Lightwave.

In essence, Blender is newer technology than LW which despite continual improvements, has an old core.
Blender has many features that are missing in lw but hopefully a lot of them will be addressed in the near future.

Hello!
I know that Blender is a new technologii etc I understand your point of view.
But Lw have 7-8 years and I can't understand why such a greet tool can't be in modeller.
Maybe Newtek should change they strategy. Maybe better way will be change a core of LW and make such a possibilitis like this simple Blender bezier curve.
Imagine how easy it could be creating a car if you well have such a tool.
If you want i can put some screenshot from Blender showing how this tools is working.

There are bezier curves in Lightwave. If were thinking of the same thing I use them all the time.

I think i must show you how it's work.
Here you have step by step in blender.
What is the best in Blender is that in step_08 you can still edit a bezier curve
All the time you can edit this curve ))

Ah so it's like the pen tool in photoshop. Ya that does sound like fun, especially if it were fine tuned to work with subpatching.

just the ability to adjust splines, beziers and other curves at any time is a must have.. .

IMO Lightwave's modeler was never great at sline based modeling. It has always been better at poly based modeling.
I agree it would be nice to have those function and be able to keep the controls of bezier curves with in LW.

I never use Bezier Tool: I find really more usefull to create points and create curves from this points (with spline draw or simply add point tool), this way you always keep the control of curve (and you can add or remove points without destroying the spline, then you can move points to control spline tension)
So even if modeler spline creation workflow is a bit old, I think it's still really efficient (and I agree too with the real nice conception of Blender ^^)

Spline modeling is great for certain tasks...
Lightwave, I agree, does not use splines natively, but rather converts them to a segmented line. It is frustrating not to have the ability to adjust the curve later.
Until Newtek catches up, there are two things:
1. Truart's plugins
http://www.trueart.pl/?URIType=Direc...Ins/EasySpline
2. Moment of Inspiration (MOI) modeler
http://moi3d.com/
Can export right into Lightwave. Very clean.

Spline modeling in LW is very limited and bad. If you want to use curves and splines for modeling I suggest looking into a NURBS modeling package. But modeler not only lacks in spline modeling every polymodeling tool in modeler feels very old and non interactive. NT really need to remake every tool in modeler to be better and more powerful and more inteactive. Still Lw is a very nice modeler even if it feels a bit old.

It would be great, but don't even hope for it in LW 10. NURBS is great for certain things but LW needs to get all the things it supports now to work properly before adding more complex surfaces to the mix. I mean not even CC's is working fully yet, so to implement NURBS as well will take a while. I suggest getting a NURBS modeler if NURBS is what you want.
