Giant's Bonsai
To a giant, a life-sized tree would seem like a small bonsai, so I played around with the idea of scale changes as the viewer realizes that what looks like a regular bonsai actually is a full-sized tree being grown by a giant.
I can think of five more things i want to do to it, but it's done (no piece of art is ever done, it is simply not worked on anymore)

Holy freaking God! What are you smoking? That is incredible, atleast in my opinion. I feel like walking into this one. Tell me that's all LW, and I'll call you a damn liar . Did I say that I think that's incredible? I don't know maybe it's a bit late and I'm sleep deprived. Um, I don't remember the last time I saw a bonsai, but those leaves remind me of something from "childhood". Please, some details on how you did this. Great image!
Cheers!

Nice composition of contrasting scales! Well at least it appears to be contrasting without reading the title.

thanks all
@dnch- yup, I used Olas's tree generator, though I did sone good editing to it afterward; lots of trimming (just like a real bonsai ) I tried a bunch of things for the grass, but most of it's from Olas's leaf generator - grown on the ground geometry and angled up (and then scooched down a tiny bit to make the grass clump image I used look like it was actually growing from the ground). There's several hundred planes in there (500-600ish?), and then PS to fill in some of the gaps/hide some of the more obvious clumps. For the butterflies, I started w. some butterfly brushes in PS, but they kinda looked like butterfly sprinkles, so I used them as a guide for placing images of butterflies.

chrislomaka: good technique.. i am thinking about purchasing OlasTG and i see it can produce quite awesome results.. some uv stitches would be easily covered up in ps.. and in motion hardly noticeable
and great technique for grass... once again..very nice
btw. great drawing technique you got there

Superb. Maybe try to add a little more bump to the branches, but also without it, this bonsai looks simply wonderful. I love also the little grass in the vase, very realistic. In clever hands TreesDesigner has no rivals.

I agree with everything said, very nice image.
My only crit is that the butterflies are a bit distracting. They are a nice touch but it took me a little while to work out what all those different coloured leaves were doing. Perhaps reduce them slightly and limit them to one or two types because it's rare that you'd see so many different varietys in one place.
