off topic> very cool photo!

Nasa's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter is now in a 50km-high orbit around the Moon and has been able to resolve Apollo 17 hardware. The image shows the descent stage left on the Moon's surface by Jack Schmitt's and Gene Cernan's Lunar Module. Even the flag they planted is just visible.

It's fake...because the flag looks like it's too far away from the craft compared to the other photos...hehe

Some will take it as proof that man landed on the Moon, some will take it as proof NASA has Photoshop...

Suck it conspiracy theorists .

Last week I went to the "new" Air and Space Museum last week (a HUGE hanger by the airport). An awesome side trip for anyone visiting the D.C. area.

That's the quote of the day!

I haven't seen the Air and Space Museum since '88, would love to get back up there.

Very cool photo indeed!

I am still trying to figure out why NASA is scared to death to land on the moon again. They must be if the deleted their records of being there right? I think they found something and don't want the public to know about it.
Thats my one and only dig at the government, its best to stop before dark suits knock on the door.

NASA is not scared to go to the Moon. Our government is scared to finance it.

Yeah I just found it odd that the data was missing. Its easy to start a conspiracy.

Odd!

I have a female friend that attended an official lecture with one of the guys that took place in that old space travel. She is a very sharp business woman with loads of skepticism against "conspiracies" but afterwards she told me that it was one thing that made her start think.

The Astronaut said that the computer that did run the whole process officially included less information than a modern digital clock. The Astronaut gladely announced it because he pronounced it as a heroic challenge with a small computer like this.

My female friend said that it most possibly wouldnīt be realistic to manage the gigantic forces it craves to start, land and navigate back to earth with a minimal computer like that.

I havenīt got a clue if itīs realistic or not but the more I read the more skeptical I get!

Their records weren't deleted. The one original tape of the recorded video of the landing was either accidently erased or someone just took it home. There were backups made before hand though, and those are fine.

Before that they worked it all out on paper. It's just math.

The computers were puny by today's standards, but top of the line then. It's not as if they were AI autopilots, they were just calculators and timers.

I can't believe that some people, right here on this forum, as intelligent as they are, wonder if Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, Pete Conrad, Alan Bean, Alan Shepard, Edgar Mitchell, David Scott, James Irwin, John W. Young, Charles Duke, Eugene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt really walked on the moon.

Geez!

I'm just gonna go take a picture of the moon with my 600 gigapixel camera and zoom in all the way, then I can see for myself.

Ha.

Celebrities have never been uglier thanks to those badboys. The slightest skin blemish is like 70 pixels.
