Speed Modeling Challenge #52 - One Year On

Speed Modeling Challenge #52 - One Year On
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

************************************************** *******
Rules:

1: Every week there will be a subject for you to model along with a time limit. You should spend no longer than the allocated time, then post a render of your model. As in most challenges like this, your honesty on modelling times is essential.
How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what is asked for.

2: Post a render of your model (min 800x600 pixels) in this thread with a wireframe.

3: LightWave should be used for modelling. 3rd party Plug ins are allowed.

4: You can enter as many times as you like, posting each in this thread. If you run over the time, the model can still be posted but won't be subject to the judging.

5: Time spent on texturing, setting up a scene for a render and rendering is not included in the allocated period.

**Please mention whether or not you would be happy to share the model.**

I have to say, after reviewing several of the past challenges, the work in the Robots challenge still stuns me. There are some awesome pieces of characterization there, many of which I could see being major characters.

I may take inspiration from that.

That was a great challenge indeed. If I had the time I would do that one as well, maybe a robot lion this time around

I'm keeping an eye on this challenge and look forward to putting the winner in the newsletter, just like I promoted the first one last year.

Wow, it's been one year already?

Edit: Btw, I can share all my not-so-grandiose models up to date, should anyone be interested.

I was thinking the same thing, I think I can scrape together 52 or so models that I have done for the challenges. I`m just debating whether to just post them in a new thread here or look for some thing a little more permanent.

After all whats a birthday with out presents.

thanks Ben for the offer of a place in the newsletter for the winner

Here's an entry based on the Victorian Clothing challenge. As you'll see from my 9x timelapse, I fiddled around with a bustier or corset thingy, which didn't make it into the final render.

40 minutes modeling, about 90 minutes fiddling with textures and lighting.

Most of my plans went quite well, except for the women's underwear. It was quite fun spline modeling it, but once I had the basic shape, I had no idea where to go next.

I'm not happy with the overall shape of my cane, which is quite boring, but I made up for it a bit with the SSS surface on the hook.

Very nice Nangleator, I'm still enjoying those vids, interesting use of the lathe tool on the specs, I've never used it for something like that, so I learned something new!
