Speed Modeling Challenge #72 Our Last Best Hope...

Speed Modeling Challenge #72 Our Last Best Hope...
*************************************************
Rules:

1. Every week there will be a subject for you to model along with a time limit. You should spend no longer than the allocated time, then post a render of your model. As in most challenges like this, your honesty on modelling times is essential. How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what is asked for.
2. Post a render of your model (min 800x600 pixels) in this thread with a wireframe.
3. LightWave should be used for modelling. 3rd party Plug ins are allowed.
4. You can enter as many times as you like, posting each in this thread. If you run over the time, the model can still be posted but won't be subject to the judging.
5. Time spent on texturing, setting up a scene for a render and rendering is not included in the allocated period.

**Please mention whether or not you would be happy to share the model.**

*************************************************
Lightwave Speed Modeling Group

This week's topic: Babylon 5

Anything remotely related to that wonderful show which probably fired more forays into CG than anything else in recent years!

I'm giving 90 mins for this in case anyone fancies getting adventurous.

Ships, props, sets, planets.

Time Limit - 90 minutes.

Deadline - Wednesday 3rd of Feb. 2010 - 2200 hrs GMT

Please, tell me you're joking!
Got the full set on DVD and all the movies myself

YouTube or google is your friend if you're not joking though.

There may be a few references online.

Probably not as many references if you wanted to model a breast, but almost as many.

Ughh, this is gonna be hard. I think I may have seen an episode or two, but that was years ago. I found a site called www.babylon5props.com though. Not a whole lot on it, but I imagine there are more like these...

Loved the show was looking forward to this weeks challenge. Even more so now.
Hopefully I'll resist the temptation to jump in over my head.

Picked my object, pretty sure I've gone more than I can handle, but will post status at 90mins then see if i can actually finish.

I've been lazy lately. I should try one entry a day, since it's one of my favorite subjects.

Good start, oobievision! I guess you started with too much attention to detail. That's the beauty of these challenges. They teach you some of the trade-offs you have to make to meet a deadline, and improve your predictive ability.

I've always had difficulty guessing how long a project would take. I think I'm better at it now.

Totally forgot I have the B5 'Security Manual' and some small ship models that came out a ways back. (lousy for detail though ).

This would be a good challenge for archviz people, too. Lots of cool corridor and room possibilities.

Mars base exteriors could be fun and simple...

Shadow ships have Magic Bevel written all over them...

So many ideas!

I`m trying to decide if I can get the entire station modeled in 90 min...
Or I could just post the ppg I did for one of the scifi challenges
