Rollei camera

I was inspired to model this after last week's Photographic speed modelling challenge. Modelled and textured in LW, rendered with the Maxwell plug in.

I've always wanted one of these.............

sick quality renders... Makes me wonder, could LW render do this and what would be the additive time needed to have a similar result?

Thanks guys.

The LW tests were pretty close to this and they rendered in 1/3 the time. You just get a certain something extra with Maxwell, particularly the materials.

As is known, Iain, you render some really nice pics. Was your like for the Rollei the reason you gave it the Maxwell treatment?
Could you not do this kind of render in LW? I would pay to watch you setup and tweak a scene to get such a render out of lw. Stellar stuff to be learned.

Yes and after spending longer modelling than I like, I thought why not?

To be honest though, Maxwell does this kind of thing pretty quickly. It's only interiors that it really takes an eternity on.

I'll see if I can push the LW version up a bit and post the results.

Thanks guys.

Here's the image I'll try to recreate in LW (sorry for the annoying new wide thread size)...............

Lovely. Stylish and a clear homage to some seriously cool "Old Skool Tek".
As someone who teaches photography, I find this picture quite alluring. Such a tactile feel to the pic.
Yes, I would happily sit about listening to you wax and wane about setups.

iain, I agree with UnCommonGrafx. You have to make some tutorials about light setup and surfacing. I'm even willing to pay for it and I bet I'm not the only one!

I don't know what d'you think about, but I don't see the necessity of using Maxwell render for this picture, looks the same for me with Lightwave, really good conversion Ian! (Only things that are imho best with Maxwell are the reflexions on the red glasses...Are they difficult to get in LW?)
