NeoTextureEdit - Open source, node based

http://neotextureedit.sourceforge.net/

Quote:
NeoTextureEdit is an easy to use graph-based procedural seamless texture editor. Using continuous basis functions it can generate arbitrary resolution images without quality degradation. Its main purpose is to produce high quality textures for real time rendering applications that can be stored in a few kB and synthesized on application startup. But it can also be used to generate off-line images.
Yeah!

I'll have to check that out. I tried MapZone and found it very complicated and lacking in instructions. The one tutorial I tried was missing a step or something.

Give it a second chance. MapZone is the only one aplication I know with possibility to edit procedural texture manually (but yu need to dig a little more). It's really powerful, but to be honest i found making textures this way bit boring. But I check this first one too. Some day
