Mmmmmmmmmhhhh, this future upgrade will be very much games+character anims oriented, should I even upgrade, he does not talk of improved radiosity (faster) nor MD improvements......
Can we speculate a bit in here, .... please...

This announcement was probably only done because A|W announced Maya 5.
Anyway, I hope EVERYTHING in LW8 will be scriptable. If not, I'll be going for another package as soon as I have the money.

This summer?
"NewTek's LightWave 3D [8] is expected to ship in the fourth quarter of this year."
Maybe winter?

free upgrade to lw8 with vt?
So I just got VT[2] about a week ago. That gives me a free upgrade to VT[3] when it comes out.
VT[3] comes with a free LW[7.5]
If you purchase LW[7.5] after April 1st, you get a free upgrade to LW[8]
Does that mean that if I just got VT[2], I will get a free upgrade to LW[8]?
(please say yes, please say yes, please say yes........)

For speculation, search all posts pertaining to LW8. No need to start another long winded thread since we've all been there before.

joke
A bus stops and two Italian men get on. They sit down and engage in
an animated conversation. The lady sitting behind them ignores them at
first, but her attention is galvanized when she hears one of the men say
the following:
Emma come first. Den I come. Den two asses come together. I come
once-a-more. Two asses, they come together again. I come again and pee
twice. Then I come one lasta time."
You foul-mouthed sex obsessed swine," retorted the lady indignantly.
In this country....we don't speak aloud in pubic places about our
sex lives.........
Hey, coola down lady," said the man.
Who talkin' abouta sexa? I'm a justa tellin' my frienda how to
spella 'Mississippi'."
I BET YOU READ THIS AGAIN!!!
